Panjiva report quantifies global effects of economic downturn
In Panjiva - Panning for Gold in Numbers - NYTimes.com Om Malik wrote about Panjiva’s recently published report detailing the global effects of the last year’s economic downturn:
According to data collected by Panjiva, in July 2007 there were 43,000 factories supplying clothes to the United States. By July 2008, that number had dropped to 22,099 and in October that shrank to 6,262.
Panjiva is a local startup whose business is mining publicly available manufacturing and shipping reports from around the world for the strategic benefit of retailers. I’ve met CTO Jim Psota—they’ve gathered a very impressive team.
