I just knocked off the biggest item from my TODO list, and it turned out to be much easier than I expected.

A year ago self-employed workers needed to join some hokey association or try to get some broker’s attention, and the choices were limited and expensive. Now the Massachusetts state Health Connector makes it easy to shop for and enroll in a health insurance plan for individuals and families. No need to go through a broker, and the entire process took half an hour. I was able to get the same coverage that I had under my previous employer’s COBRA for just a little bit more than the COBRA cost.
